Used Evaporators for Sale — What We Carry

SIGMA Process Equipment maintains stock of used evaporators for sale covering the primary evaporator types used in chemical, pharmaceutical, food, dairy, and wastewater treatment industries. Our inventory turns regularly; submit an RFQ to get current availability and condition reports.

Used Falling Film Evaporators

A used falling film evaporator is the most widely used evaporator type in industrial concentration. Liquid is fed to the top of vertical tubes and falls as a thin film while being heated by steam or hot water in the shell side — highly efficient at relatively low temperatures and pressure drops. We stock single-, double-, and triple-effect units in SS 316L and titanium. Common applications include dairy concentration, fruit juice, chemicals, and used falling film evaporator for sale enquiries are among our most frequent.

Falling film evaporator uses span wastewater pre-concentration, solvent recovery, and food ingredient concentration. Consult our blog for a full discussion of falling film vs thin film evaporator selection.

Used Thin Film, Wiped Film, and Agitated Film Evaporators

A used thin film evaporator — including used wiped film evaporators and agitated film evaporators — uses an internal rotor to spread the liquid feed as a thin, turbulent film on a heated cylindrical surface. The agitated film evaporator working principle: rotating wiper blades continuously renew the liquid film, preventing hot-spot formation and enabling very short residence times — critical for heat-sensitive, viscous, or fouling feeds that would scale or degrade in conventional evaporators. Applications include concentration of polymer solutions, high-value fine chemicals, and botanical extracts.

A wiped film evaporator for sale from our stock typically includes the evaporator body, rotor, internal condenser, and vacuum system connections. Used thermal evaporators (electrically heated jacket types) are also occasionally available for smaller-scale duties where steam is not available on site.

Used MVR Evaporators

A used MVR evaporator — mechanical vapour recompression — recovers the latent heat of evaporated vapour by recompressing it to a higher pressure before returning it as the heat source. This makes MVR systems substantially more energy-efficient than conventional multi-effect evaporators. Used wastewater evaporators in MVR configuration are increasingly common in chemical and pharmaceutical plants managing ZLD (zero liquid discharge) targets. We carry complete skid-mounted used wastewater evaporator for sale systems as well as individual evaporator bodies.

Used Rotary Evaporators

A used rotary evaporator rotates the evaporation flask to increase surface area and improve heat transfer, operating under vacuum for low-temperature solvent removal. A rotary evaporator for sale from our stock covers pilot and production-scale solvent recovery; a used rotary evaporator for sale typically includes the heating bath, condenser, vacuum pump, and glassware. Industrial and pilot-scale used rotary evaporators for sale — including rotary evaporators for sale in both glassware and stainless steel configurations — cover solvent recovery applications including rotary evaporator ethanol and rotary evaporator ethanol extraction for botanical or pharmaceutical processing, ethyl acetate rotary evaporator duty in API synthesis, and rotary evaporator essential oil extraction. An evaporator used in solvent recovery is quoted with full condition reports covering the bath heater, vacuum pump, condenser, and glassware integrity. Used Buchi rotary evaporators (used Buchi rotary evaporator) and rotary evaporator Heidolph models appear in stock periodically — mention the brand and scale in your enquiry.

Multi-Effect Concentration Systems

Complete double-effect and triple-effect evaporation systems are available as skid-mounted packages. These are suited for high-volume continuous concentration duties in chemical and food plants. All major components — calandria, vapour separator, condenser, vacuum system, and pumps — are documented in the condition report.

Key Buying Considerations

  • Feed viscosity and fouling tendency — falling film for clean, low-viscosity feeds; wiped film for viscous or fouling streams.
  • Heat sensitivity — all evaporators can operate under vacuum for low-temperature duty; thin film and MVR types offer the shortest residence times.
  • Capacity — specify evaporation rate (kg water/h) and inlet/outlet concentration targets.
  • Material of construction — SS 316L for food and pharma contact surfaces; titanium for aggressive chemicals; carbon steel for utility-grade wastewater duty.
  • Energy efficiency — multi-effect or MVR for high-volume duties where steam cost is significant.
